Dodgem Darlings
Known as the ‘Dodgem Darlings’, this group of siblings - from a litter of 10 - was rescued from the racing industry in Western Australia.
The group is made up of Mya and Chekka (adopted by Jo & Warren), Jelly and Thunder (adopted by Tracy), Marley (adopted by Hope & Josh), Indy (adopted by Katie & Kurt), Cocoa - RIP (was adopted by Krista & John) and Lacey - RIP (was adopted by Merja & Jeremy).
Adoption Month/Year: Mya (July 2020), Jelly (August 2020), Cocoa (September 2020), Chekka (February 2021), Thunder (September 2021), Indy (October 2021), Lacey (November 2022) and Marley (May 2023)
Slash (Black Male) did not escape the industry (euthanised - date not listed) and an Un-Named (Black Male) deceased with no other information available.
Sadly, Cocoa (lost her battle with Neospora, crossing the rainbow bridge on 29 April 2022 (4 years, 2 months) and Lacey due to a snakebite, crossing the rainbow bridge on 3 February 2025 (6 years, 10 months) but always Dodgem Darlings.
The Group - Hounds and Hoomans (residing in Western Australia) catch up at weekend markets and events bringing this special family of hounds together for regular family re-unions. Of course the most celebrated day of the year is their Birthday….It’s a day of complete madness, presents, fun and frivolity with lots of pats, loads of treats (bbq sausages the favourite) and full-on attention….they love it!
For anyone witnessing the unique bond between the siblings, they are touched and uplifted by their antics. Individually, and even more so when together, the Dodgem Darlings are a magnet for attention when out and about. People always wanting to meet and pat them and by doing so, want to learn more about them and the plight to End Greyhound Racing in WA.
In brief, that is the story of the Dodgem Darlings Family and the now 6 Survivors.
